Goodness, can anyone tell me where last year went and how Christmas crept up so quickly!?!?

We find ourselves already in 2020 with a fresh new year ahead of us.

I'll be catching up on website updates over the next few weeks.  Lots of interesting changes within the shop, sellers going, new ones joining, new displays, new workshops........It's all very exciting.  Head over to our Facebook page or Instagram page for regular up to date info - links can be found at the bottom of the page.

Are we seriously in July already!?  This round up is slightly late in that case!  As always, one day merges with the next and before you know it the months have past...

Birthday- We have celebrated our 3rd birthday.  We had a week of special offers and a party at the shop on 10th July.  It was lovely to see so many of our crafters and customers come to celebrate with us.  We ran a raffle with very kind donations from our crafters, we raised a fabulous £200 for Chemogiftbags.  So thank you to all that bought tickets and well done to Victoria and Lisa who won the amazing hampers, each worth over £240!!

Workshops/Meet the Maker- We've started our Saturday sessions where you can have chance to meet some of our crafters, learn about what they do and join in and make things yourself too!! See the table below for info, dates and times.

Sellers - We only said goodbye to one seller this quarter Kat of Malwa with her Needle Felted items.

4 of our existing crafters have expanded their space and ranges.

  • Steph of Stephanie Block Contemporty Art is now selling t-shirts and hoodies with some of her most popular designs on
  • Kath of Kitty Ricco is now selling her frames sewn artworks as well as her cards
  • Jo of Made By Me Loved By You has introduced a range of resin button jewellery.  You can interchange parts to match each outfit you are wearing!
  • Dilys of Pure Fairtraid has taken extra space so she has more hanging ornaments and some larger items too
  • Emma of The Handmade Craft Company (that's me!) has finally brought in some fabric wreath kits.

We also said hello to a brand new crafter Rachel of My Aurelia Rose.  Rachel has joined the shop with her range of My School Buddy - these are fabric dolls made as a comfort for the start of a new school year.   They can be bought off of the shelf or made to order with skin, hair and eye colour to match your child aswell as matching school uniform too!

It's hard to believe we're 3 (and a half) months through the year already!  Time has flown by, but not surprisingly really as so much has been happening in the shop...

Franchise - After putting things on the back burner for a little while last year due to some horrific building work at home that went wrong, I'm very pleased to have now re-started the ball rolling.  There are lots of interested people so hopefully there'll be another 'The Handmade Craft Company' opening at some point this year!

Winner - In March I was absolutely delighted to be picked by Theo Paphitis as one of his Small Business Sunday winners!!  He and his team read some tweets that I'd posted in order to enter the competition, reviewed my social media and website, found out about my business and picked me to win!!  My Twitter account went mad for a week and I've gained lots of new followers across social media and have lots of new crafters wanting to join the shop.  Most of all it gave me a huge confidence boost that whatever it is I'm doing...I'm doing it right!

Staff - We said farewell to my Mum who is now enjoying her retirement properly.  We still see her regularily as we still sell her beautiful watercolour art work, cards, mugs and coasters so she's often popping in.

We welcomed Karen to the team and she has settled in extrememly well with both customers and our sellers.

Andrea is still with us and along with Karen has very kindly picked up some of my admin work behind the scenes -having over 50 sellers in the shop takes a lot of organising.

Sellers - We said goodbye to 6 of our sellers.  They leave for various reasons, some move away from the area, may start full time work and not have much time to craft or they may just fancy and change.  Though it's always sad to see them go it does open up space for new sellers to join us and we've had 14 join us!!

We have welcomed

  • Zentangle artwork, cards and cushions,
  • Beaded handbag charms,
  • Foliage plastercast plaques and resin jewellery,
  • Acrylic, resin and Fimo pictures, clocks and jewellery,
  • Bunting,
  • Fabric notice boards,
  • Body and room smellies,
  • Animal painted slate tiles,
  • Crayons and Play-dough,
  • Water colour artwork,
  • Pastel artwork,
  • Sewn cards,
  • Quirky cards,
  • Abstract cards,

It's definitely worthwhile coming to see it all as well of course as the fabulous creations from our sellers that are still with us.
